Self Reflection #1
- My process of writing is to just sit down and think out what works for me. If I feel as if my topic is working against me or too difficult I will not go through with it. The way I pick my topic is what interests me, if I find something boring and not worth my time, then there is no point of me wasting time doing since it will clearly show in my efforts to write it. It was not terribly hard since there’s a lot of interest in it for me and it’s a simple object with not too many parts too it.
- There were some things that influence decisions during the writing process since the purpose was just to explain the function and make up of a spiral notebook. The audience did play a slight role, since it’s a very standard and easy to understand technical description, so any normal person can easily grasp the concepts.
- I did not enjoy nor did I enjoy it, it was just another assignment for me. I did what I had to do and got it done.
- I learned that I need to rephrase some of my wording to always sound less opinionated and more strong, in the sense to show why certain things make up the notebook and why it is beneficial.
Self Reflection #2
- It is something that I think genuinely needs repairs and needs to be taken more serious. We as students should not be forced to climb 5 stories or wait 15 minutes for an elevator.
- The overall purpose of this memo was to inform the proper people within CCNY to take this issue more serious and have better facilities in place for future students. In the last section, recommendation, I give the CCNY facilities staff ideas and how to fix this and drill it into their minds that the current situation is not helping to fix this issue and they need new companies and hires to come in and truly repair these facilities for those who need it.
- I think personally if I was an audience member, as in a staff in the CCNY facilities, I think I would try to listen because it is my job to make it easier for students to move across the buildings.
- I do not think I would rewrite this as this is a passionate topic for many CCNY students and faculty and its a struggle that all must face. It is something important that needs to be taken care of and I think I went into good detail in my memo.
Self Reflection #3
- I came to the question of, Why we Need to Switch to Alternative Energy Sources, because the world as we know is run off mainly fossil fuels and some day we will run out. It is better now, then later, to look into different energy sources that are much more renewable and will be safer for us as people to be part of.
- Most of my research came from articles and government websites and for the most part it was easy to get ahold of, but a lot of information was repeated and in such was hard to separate notes and fit different sub topics with supporting evidence.
- The whole point of this assignment was to be a lab report, and in a lab report u need data to backup your findings to prove that it is true. Research is the only method to show credibility and make sure you can not be discredited for false information.
- I feel like I should have found data that I did on my own, that is something I did not do in this lab report.
